WOMEN Semi-Final SRI LANKA vs NEW ZEALAND Result (Teams mentioned in the order they batted):
In Sri Lankas first match against New Zealand Women they scored 3, with a top partnership of 18. New Zealand scored 139. In their second match, Sri Lanka improved marginally, scoring 5. New Zealand scored a massive 165. In this their third meeting of the week, Sri Lanka showed just how much their batters in particular have learned. They scored a highly commendable 101, with their highest partnership of 36 taking the skin for them (even though skins don't count during the finals). Even their lowest partnership was a reasonable 15 runs. Although this is not Sri Lanka Women's highest score for the tournament, it was against high-quality opposition and must be rated as their best international result so far.
New Zealand on the other hand showed they are not flagging as the week progresses. It was a powerhouse batting display, with contributions spread quite evenly throughout the team. A good leadup to their next game, the Grand Final against Australia to be played tomorrow.
